How price fixing works
This product works with a Spot+ contract. If you don’t yet have a Herrfors Spot+ contract, you need to sign one first – do it easily via the link below.
What is a Spot+ -contract?
A Spot contract means that the electricity price follows the market price directly. With a Spot+ contract, you can (if you wish) fix part of the price and protect yourself against price spikes.
Herrfors automatically calculates an estimate of your monthly average power consumption – that is, how much electricity is used in your home on average per hour.
What is average power?
Average power (kW) refers to the average level of your electricity consumption per hour.
Example: if your consumption in January is 1000 kWh, this is divided by the number of hours in January (744 h) → the average power is 1.3 kW.
You can choose which months to fix and how much. You can make price fixes at any time.
How much is worth fixing?
A good starting point is to fix the so-called base load – that is, the appliances that are always on.
The fixed electricity is priced at a fixed rate for the selected period. You know in advance how much you will pay for this portion, which helps you avoid surprises.
At what price can I make a price fix?
Offer prices are updated every hour. Check the current price for price fixing here.
If you consume more than you have fixed, the excess is priced as in a regular spot electricity contract – at an varying spot price. If, on the other hand, you don’t use the entire fixed amount, it is automatically sold back at the spot price.
Is it still worth scheduling my electricity consumption?
Yes! You still get the full benefit of timing your consumption to the times with low spot prices, even if you have made price fixes. (In fact, your opportunities may even expand, since you can now sell cheaply fixed electricity at a higher spot price.)
On your electricity invoice you will see the price without any price fixes, as well as the “result of the price fix” if you have made any.
Price is the difference between the month’s fixed price and the average spot price.
Amount is the fixed volume, e.g. 1000 kWh.
Why can the Spot portion be useful?
If you time your consumption to the cheap Spot times, you can save. The Spot portion provides flexibility and lower prices when the market price of electricity is favorable.

Manage your price fixes easily in the Price Fixer
Manage your price fixes conveniently from one place. You can view the available prices, make new price fixes, and track your electricity consumption as well as your savings in real time.
Price fixes protects the share you want to secure
A price fix does not bind your entire consumption, you decide how much you want to protect. Think of it as insurance against electricity price peaks.
By default, the fixes are based on your average power, meaning the amount of electricity you use on average per hour.
You don’t lose flexibility – the spot price still applies to the part that is not fixed.
Why fixing the average power:
- You get better protection against price fluctuations
- If you use more than you fixed, the excess is priced according to the spot price
- A price fix does not cover everything – you can still benefit from low spot prices
The result: A more stable electricity bill, but the potential for savings remains.
What is average power?
Average power (kW) shows how much electricity you use on average per hour.
For example, 0.9 kW means you consume about 21.6 kWh in a day (0.9 x 24 h).
You can see your own average power directly in Herrfors’ price fixing interface and choose to fix it (or part of it) just the way you want.
