Moving? Order your electricity contract easily and quickly.

A new home, new routines – but your electricity matters are handled with the same reliability as always. Herrfors helps you with your move by making it quick and easy to order an electricity contract. Get your contract sorted with just a few clicks – even on the same day!

A mover’s checklist for the electricity contract

Before moving

Preferably 14 days in advance

Find out if you need to transfer or terminate your electricity contract

Do you have a fixed-term contract?

No. A new electricity sales contract must always be made for a new place of use. A fixed-term contract ends when you move out.

Do you have an open-ended contract?

If you wish, you can change your electricity supplier when moving.

Contact your electricity supplier

Notify them of your moving date and your new address.
Indicate whether you want to transfer your current contract or make a new one

Order a network agreement for your new address

The sale of electricity and the electricity network are separate matters – you must have a contract with the network operator of your new area.
Find out who the network operator is for your new address (this information can often be found on the municipality’s website or from your current electricity supplier).

Terminate the electricity network contract for your old residence

Notify your moving date.
Check the possible notice period (usually 14 days).

On moving day

Read the electricity meter at your new address

Check whether the meter starts from zero, or record the reading as it is.

Read the electricity meter at your old address

Record the meter reading and take a photo as proof.

After the move

Confirmation from the electricity company

Check that you receive confirmation both for the termination or transfer of the old contract and for the new one.

First invoice

Make sure all details (address, meter reading, contract type) are correct.
