Transition to 15-minute spot pricing
From 1 October 2025, the electricity spot price on Nord Pool will be determined every 15 minutes instead of once an hour as it is today. This EU requirement enables more accurate pricing that better follows supply
and demand and facilitates the use of renewable energy, such as solar and wind power. What this means for you:
- Prices will change more frequently, which may cause greater price fluctuations during the day.
- By monitoring the price, you can plan your electricity usage and shift it to cheaper times. You can easily follow the price both in our Herrfors app and on our website.
- To take advantage of quarter-hour pricing, you will need an electricity meter that measures in 15-minute intervals. About half of all meters already support this, and the rest will be replaced no later than 2028. You can check your meter’s measurement interval in Datahub.

Make use of price fluctuations with the Herrfors app
With the app, you can easily benefit from price fluctuations. You can automatically control your electricity consumption, for example, charging your electric car when the price is at its lowest (in compatible car models). The app can also let you know when the spot price is exceptionally high or low.
